Terms of Service
Effective Date: March 5, 2026 · Last Updated: March 9, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By creating an account on Skolvio, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lime Learning Inc. ("Skolvio," "we," "us," "our"), a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada.
You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of the student(s) using the platform. By registering, you confirm both of these conditions.
2. Description of Service
Skolvio is an AI-powered tutoring platform for students in Grades 4–12. The service includes:
- Structured lessons aligned to government curricula (Ontario, California, Texas, and IB-aligned content).
- AI-generated teaching content, practice problems, and exams.
- Progress tracking, star ratings, and parent dashboard reporting.
- AI-generated lesson images and interactive study tools.
- Voice features including text-to-speech (listen to lessons read aloud) and speech-to-text (speak answers using a microphone).
Skolvio is a supplementary educational tool. It is not a replacement for school, a certified tutor, or professional educational assessment. We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes, grades, test scores, or educational results. You acknowledge that academic performance depends on many factors beyond the use of any tutoring tool, and Skolvio shall not be held liable for any academic underperformance, failure to meet educational goals, or any decisions made based on your child's use of the platform.
3. Accounts and Registration
- Parent accounts are created with an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
- Child profiles are created by the parent. Each child receives a username and a 4-digit PIN for login.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and your children's profiles.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to update it if it changes.
- You must not create accounts for children who are not in your legal care.
4. Subscription and Pricing
- Skolvio is a paid subscription service. A valid credit card is required at sign-up.
- Free trial: New accounts receive a 2-week free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. You may cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges.
- Pricing: Current pricing is displayed on our website at the time of sign-up. Additional children on the same account may be billed at a discounted per-child rate.
- All prices are in USD for US customers and CAD for Canadian customers.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You can cancel at any time from your parent dashboard or billing portal.
5. Cancellation and Refunds
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
- We do not provide prorated refunds for partial months.
- If you are unsatisfied within the first 30 days of your paid subscription, contact us at support@skolvio.com and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
- Upon cancellation, child accounts can no longer log in, but parent access to progress data is retained until the account is deleted.
6. Acceptable Use
You and your children agree not to:
- Use Skolvio for any purpose other than educational learning.
- Attempt to manipulate, bypass, or abuse the AI tutor (including attempting to make it discuss inappropriate or off-topic content).
- Share account credentials with individuals outside your household.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform.
- Submit content that is offensive, harmful, or inappropriate through any input field (including special interest topics, drawing tools, and voice inputs).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. AI-Generated Content
- Skolvio uses third-party large language models (LLMs) and generative AI services — specifically Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's DALL-E — to generate lesson content, practice problems, feedback, explanations, and images.
- AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies, errors, or incomplete information. Skolvio is a learning aid and should not be treated as an authoritative academic source. We strongly encourage students and parents to verify important information with school materials, textbooks, or qualified educators.
- Skolvio does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated content and shall not be held liable for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in AI-generated lessons, feedback, grading, or explanations.
- The AI models used by Skolvio are developed and operated by third-party providers (Anthropic and OpenAI). We do not control the underlying models and are not responsible for their outputs beyond the safety measures and content guidelines we implement.
- All AI interactions are designed to be age-appropriate and on-topic. The AI tutor is instructed to stay strictly within educational boundaries.
- We implement content safety screening on user inputs (such as special interest topics) to prevent inappropriate content from entering the system.
8. AI Safety Limitations
We take the safety of our young users extremely seriously and invest significant effort in making the AI tutor safe and age-appropriate. Our safety measures include:
- System-level instructions that restrict the AI to educational topics only.
- Content safety screening on all user-submitted inputs (including special interest topics, drawing submissions, and voice inputs).
- Acceptable use policies that prohibit attempts to manipulate the AI into off-topic or inappropriate discussions.
However, no AI system is infallible. Despite our safety measures, it is technically possible — particularly through deliberate manipulation — for the AI to generate content that is inaccurate, off-topic, or inappropriate. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Skolvio cannot guarantee that all AI-generated content will be appropriate, accurate, or suitable in every circumstance.
- Skolvio shall not be held liable for any AI-generated content that is inaccurate, inappropriate, offensive, or harmful, despite our reasonable efforts to prevent such content.
- Parental supervision is recommended, particularly for younger students. Parents can review their child's lesson activity and progress through the parent dashboard.
- If your child encounters any inappropriate content, please report it immediately to support@skolvio.com so we can investigate and improve our safety measures.
9. Curriculum Alignment
Skolvio provides curriculum-aligned content for Ontario (Canada), California (USA), Texas (USA), and IB-aligned programs. Important notes:
- Our content is aligned to official curricula but is not endorsed, certified, or authorized by any government ministry, school board, or the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
- IB-related content is described as "IB-aligned" or "designed for IB students" — we are not an IB World School and do not claim IB certification.
- Curriculum content is based on publicly available government documents and may not reflect the most recent updates.
10. Intellectual Property
- All content, design, code, and AI-generated materials on Skolvio are the property of Lime Learning Inc. or used under license.
- You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially use any Skolvio content without written permission.
- Students retain ownership of their original written answers and drawings submitted through the platform.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Skolvio is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: academic underperformance, reliance on inaccurate AI-generated content, exposure to inappropriate content generated by the AI despite our safety measures, or any decisions made based on information provided by the AI tutor.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The platform may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or updates.
- You acknowledge that AI technology is inherently probabilistic and that no AI system can guarantee 100% accuracy, safety, or appropriateness of output at all times.
12. Account Termination
- You may delete individual child profiles at any time from your parent dashboard. This permanently removes the child's profile and all associated progress data.
- To delete your entire parent account, contact us at support@skolvio.com. This will remove all child profiles and account data.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, fail to pay, or engage in behaviour that harms the platform or other users.
- Upon account deletion, all associated data (including child profiles and progress) will be permanently removed, subject to legal retention requirements.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of Skolvio shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Skolvio after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lime Learning Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Skolvio, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lime Learning Inc. regarding your use of Skolvio. These terms supersede any prior agreements or communications between you and us regarding the service.
