Help & support

How can we help?

Setting up, logins, billing, tutors and privacy — plus what to do when something isn’t working.

Getting set up

How do I set my child up?

From your parent dashboard, choose "Add Child". You will enter their first name, grade and curriculum, pick a username, and set a PIN they will use to log in. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can change any of it later.

How does my child log in?

They go to the child login page and enter the username and PIN you set — not your email and password. Your login is for the parent dashboard; theirs is for lessons.

What device do we need?

Anything with a modern web browser — a laptop, desktop, tablet or phone. There is nothing to install and no app to download.

What should the first session look like?

Sit with them for the first lesson if you can. Not to help with the work, but so they see how it flows — teaching, then questions, then practice. After that most children run it themselves.

How long is a lesson?

Around 20 to 30 minutes. Progress saves automatically, so stopping halfway and coming back later loses nothing.

Your child's account

My child forgot their PIN.

Open your dashboard, click your child's name, then "Edit Profile". There is a Reset PIN section where you set a new one directly. They can log in with it straight away.

My child can't log in.

Check the username spelling first — usernames are lowercase. Then check the PIN, and reset it from Edit Profile if you are unsure. If neither is the problem, check your subscription: when billing is past due, children's access pauses until it is resolved.

Can I change my child's grade?

Yes, from Edit Profile. The available subjects update automatically to match the new grade.

Can I change which curriculum they follow?

Yes. Progress is tracked separately for each curriculum, so switching starts the new one fresh and keeps the old one intact — if you switch back, the earlier progress is still there.

How do I add another child?

From your dashboard, choose "Add Child". The extra seat is added to your existing subscription automatically at the additional-child rate.

Can I pause instead of cancelling?

Yes. Open your child's Edit Profile and use Pause Account. They keep access to the end of the current billing period, all progress is saved, and you can reactivate from the Inactive Profiles section of your dashboard whenever you like.

How do I remove a child completely?

Edit Profile, then the Danger Zone section at the bottom. This permanently deletes their progress and removes the seat from your subscription. It cannot be undone, so pause instead if you might come back.

Billing and subscription

What does it cost?

The first child is $20 a month and each additional child is $15 a month, after a 7-day free trial. Canadian families are billed in CAD, US families in USD.

How do I update my card, see invoices, or cancel?

All of it lives behind "Manage Billing" on your dashboard, which opens the secure billing portal. Cancelling there takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — there is no fee and nothing to negotiate.

What happens when the free trial ends?

The subscription starts and the card you entered at signup is charged. If you cancel at any point during the trial you are not charged at all.

My payment failed.

We email you and retry the charge. If it keeps failing, your children's access pauses — but nothing is lost. Update your card in the billing portal and everything comes straight back where it was.

What happens to progress if I cancel?

It is kept. If you cancel without deleting your account we retain the data for 12 months, so resubscribing picks up exactly where your child left off.

Is there a referral discount?

Yes. Share your referral link from the dashboard: the family you refer gets a discount on their first months, and you get credit once they subscribe. The details are on the referral card on your dashboard.

Working with a tutor

Can my child's tutor use Skolvio with them?

Yes, if the tutor has a Skolvio tutor account. When you add or edit your child there is a "Tutor's email" field — enter their address and choose which subjects they teach. The tutor gets a request and accepts it, and from then on they can see how your child is doing and set work between sessions.

What can a tutor see?

Only the subjects you linked them for, and only after they accept. Before that they see your child's first name and grade and nothing else. A tutor linked for Math cannot see English or Science work, and no tutor can read your child's conversations with the AI tutor.

Can different tutors cover different subjects?

Yes. You can link one tutor for Math and a different one for English. Each sees only their own subject.

How do I remove a tutor?

From your child's edit page, where you added them. Removing a tutor ends their access to your child's data immediately.

Do I pay the tutor through Skolvio?

No. Whatever you arrange with your tutor is between you and them. Your Skolvio subscription is separate and covers the lessons and practice your child uses.

Does Skolvio vet or background-check tutors?

No. Tutors create their own accounts, and we do not verify their qualifications or run background checks. Only link a tutor you already know and trust — connecting them gives them access to your child's learning data.

Emails and reports

What is the weekly report?

A short email summarising your child's week — what they worked on, what is going well, and one specific thing to try. It is written from their actual work rather than generic tips, and it also appears on your dashboard.

Can I stop the emails?

Yes. Every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and you can change your preference from your account. Essential messages about billing and account security still come through.

I'm not receiving anything.

Check spam, and check that the address on your account is the one you are looking in. If it is still missing, email support and we will look at whether the messages are being blocked at your end.

My tutor sends a report too — how is that different?

The tutor report is written by your tutor under their name, using your child's Skolvio data plus their own comments. The weekly report comes from us. They are separate, and you may receive both.

Privacy and your data

Who can see my child's progress?

You, your child, and any tutor you have specifically linked to them — and a tutor only ever sees the subjects you chose. Nobody else has access. If you have not linked a tutor, only you and your child can see it.

What do you store about my child?

Their profile details, their progress, the answers they give to questions and exams, the writing and reading work they submit, and their conversations with the AI tutor. We keep those so we can show you real evidence of progress and so your child can pick up where they left off.

Is my child's data sold or used to train AI?

No. Skolvio is ad-free and subscription-only. We do not sell your family's data and we do not use it to train AI models.

Can my child chat to the AI about anything?

No. The tutor stays on the lesson. It does not engage with off-topic or personal conversation, and everything it says is written for the age it is teaching.

How do I delete our data?

Removing a child from Edit Profile permanently deletes their progress. To delete your whole account and everything under it, email support@skolvio.com and we will confirm before doing anything irreversible.

Something isn't working

A lesson won't load or is stuck.

Reload the page first — progress is saved, so nothing is lost. If it happens again, try a different browser. If it still happens, email support and tell us your child's first name and roughly when it happened, and we can look at that specific session.

The tutor said something odd or unhelpful.

Tell us. Email support with your child's first name and what the lesson was about. We would genuinely rather hear about it than not — it is how the teaching gets better.

My child says the practice questions are too easy or too hard.

Check the grade on their profile first, since everything follows from that. If the grade is right and it is still wrong, email us — it is useful for us to know which lesson.

I can't log in to my parent account.

Use "Forgot password?" on the login page to get a reset link. If the reset email does not arrive, check spam before contacting support.

Still need a hand?

Email support@skolvio.com. Tell us your child’s first name and what you were doing when it went wrong, and we can look at the exact session rather than guessing.
